Swindon Croquet Club is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2016 with an open weekend on 4 to 5 June. The Mayor of Swindon will open the event, supported by North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson.
The club had a very successful 2015 being awarded the Apps Healy Trophy by the sports national body, The Croquet Association, for the club making the most pogress over the last two years.
After recruiting 30 new members in 2015 it is looking to top up its membership to make full use of three newly laid lawns.
Beginners will be able to take advantage of the 10 quali ed coaches or just come along for a taster. Croquet is a sport where men and women, young and old, play on equal terms using a handicap system.
Experienced players are also welcome for a possible place in one of the four teams they have playing in the South West Leagues and/or take part in club tournaments.
