Tom Hambidge, who works as an administrator at Swindon estate and lettings agent Ashcox & Stone, has taken over a slimming group to inspire others to lose weight.
The 25-year-old who lives in Wichelstowe, lost five stones after deciding his diet was not healthy and his X-large clothing was getting too tight.
He said: “I’ve always had a poor relationship with food but didn’t confront my weight problem until my very large clothes started getting too tight. I joined Slimming World as it offers a solution which meant I can eat lots of food but make healthier choices. I love food, I do all the cooking at home and had to find something which worked around my lifestyle.”
Tom now runs a slimming group in his home estate of Wichelstowe and has taken over a Slimming World group in Wroughton and he now supports about 200 Swindon people each week who are trying to control their weight. His Wichelstowe group meets on Mondays at 7.30pm at East Wichel Community Primary School and his new Wroughton group on Thursdays at 5.30pm and 7.30pm at Wroughton Working Men’s Club.
In his day job, Tom works for Ashcox & Stone, an estate and lettings agency based in Old Town, Swindon. One of his new slimming recruits is his manager Neil Bainbridge.
Neil said: “Tom is not only a great work colleague but an inspiration for those of us who could do with shedding some pounds. The fact that he’s lost so much weight himself and knows what a struggle it can be, gives him the ability to empathise with all of us.”
