Newly launched youth bereavement charity, Wiltshire Treehouse, have been shortlisted to become the Sainsbury’s Local Charity of the Year with a coveted prize of 12 months support and fundraising efforts from the Stratton super store.
The charity, which launched in October 2015, receives no government support and is the only dedicated service of its kind in Swindon. A parent of children under 18 dies every 22 minutes in the UK and 92% of children will experience the death of someone important to them before they are 16. The need for such a support group is evident and in order for the charity to continue providing Swindon families with a free service and support network means relying on donations, grants and fantastic opportunities like this Sainsbury’s vote.
Charity representative, Kate Bentley said “We are thrilled to be given this opportunity and thank Stratton Sainsbury’s for shortlisting us. Treehouse is a new concept and we’d forgive people for not having heard of us yet. We really need Swindon to get behind us and vote so that we can provide the service Swindon’s children deserve”.
You can vote in store or online at www.sainsburyslocalcharity.co.uk and enter your own SN postcode or the store’s which is SN3 4EW and select Stratton then Wiltshire Treehouse. Voting closes Sun 26 June.
