Batman and Robin will be taking on a four day challenge, driving their homemade Batmobile all the way to Lake Como in Italy.
Batman, also known as Gary Franks of Faringdon, and his friend Robin Julian are raising funds for Help for Heroes, aiming to beat their personal record of £2,860 raised in 2014.
Gary said: “The 2016 challenge is to get from Dover to Lake Como in 4 days, from 3 to 7 September, crossing The Alps several times on the way.
“We may be set other challenges en route. The return trip will take in Monaco and Le Mans before getting the ferry home on 9 September.
“We built the Batmobile car around 12 months ago for the 2015 run, and have spruced it up to use again this year. The donor car, a Ford Cougar, cost us £300 to buy and now features ejector seats, afterburners, rockets and guns, smoke, nails and oil dispensers. With all this, it is fully road legal with a new MOT gained in February. The advisories listed make amusing reading.”
