Kimmy Shopland, 11, from Taw Hill in North Swindon, has been confused and concerned about the heated rancour around the Euro referendum, and was greatly saddened by the tragic death of Jo Cox MP on 16 June.
She has written a poem which she hopes will inspire everyone to act with kindness and peace in their hearts
My vision of the world:
No-one is born racist or sexist
No-one is born to be unkind
No-one is born to hurt others
No-one in all of man-kind.
Everyone has their beliefs
Everyone has a right
Everyone has an opinion
Everyone from morning ’till night.
Some people are born American
Some people are born Japanese
Some people are born allergic to nuts
Some, to the sting of bees.
But all of us need to learn
All of us need to appreciate
All of us need to count our blessings
And be thankful of our fate.
We need to learn kindness
We need to learn respect and peace
We need to learn to appreciate opinions
And all live in harmony and peace.
