Due to conflicts in diary schedules, the meeting of the West Swindon Forum planned for 4 July will now not take place. Because of the difficulties of setting up another meeting involving a majority of the nine councillors representing the three wards in the area of the summer break, the next forum will take place on Monday 12 September.
However, the planned agenda item to discuss the introduction of car parking charges at Lydiard Park and Coate Water will still take place on a drop-in basis instead. Swindon Council Officers will be available to talk about pricing, season tickets and any other questions resident’s have on Monday 4 July, 6pm to 7pm, at West Library in Link Centre.
Lydiard Fields Action Group residents’ association say an impact assessment period will run for up to 5 months to monitor the effect of charging to park on the surrounding residential areas. They are concerned about anti-social parking in the residential streets close to the park and are asking residents who see drivers parking their cars in their road and walking into the park to phone 01793 464544 or e‑mail firstname.lastname@example.org to feedback any concerns about the impact of the charges.
