Following a very successful drive in 2014 including 30 counties in 30 hours and raising over £1,500 in 2015, Amanda Butler, Regional Volunteer Fundraising Ambassador for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF), has set herself the challenge to highlight the plight of elephants to more people.
35,000 elephants are still being killed every year – 1 elephant every 15 minutes.
Amanda, her husband Barry and Jambo, her 1 metre high decorated paper mache elephant will share the experience and visit 35 elephant named ‘watering holes’ across England, 1 pub or restaurant for every 1,000 elephants killed.
On Saturday 2 July they will start at Colchester Zoo, who support the Elephant Orphanage Project in Zambia that DSWF set up in 2007, and travel over 1,000 miles in 3 days.
Locations include London, Leicester, Crewe, Telford, Oxford, Newbury, Ringwood, Margate, Canterbury and will finish at the headquarters of DSWF in Shalford, Guildford on Monday 4 July at 4pm.
