Thamesdown buses are a common sight in Swindon, providing a reliable and punctual service to users, according to managing director Paul Jenkins.
He has overseen the transport company since 2006, successfully steering it through the recession that left many other bus services nationwide shrinking. Mr Jenkins believes that through teamwork and planning, Thamesdown have continued to serve the people of Swindon reliably.
Paul said: “I feel as though Thamesdown is keeping step with the bus industry as a whole, with developments such as our SmartCard service and our live timing online.
“Next year we hope to upgrade our fleet with the latest Euro 6 buses, which should reduce our environmental impact further. This progression over 10 years is something I’m very proud of.
“In 2006 Swindon was growing rapidly. We put in place a three-year plan for efficient growth, to upgrade the fleet and bring back our Sunday services which led to being awarded UK Bus operator of the year in 2011.
“One of the highlights of my time at Thamesdown includes having our buses at the London Olympics in 2012.
“Having been in operation since 1904, I am only the eighth person in charge of this prestigious company.
“I’d like to thank everyone at Thamesdown for the past 10 years. I’m proud to be working with you.”
