The Queen’s 90th birthday is being celebrated by the West Swindon and Lydiard Tregoze church partnership with a series of events this weekend.
From 2pm at Toothill Church, there will be cream tea for £2 and free cucumber sandwiches, with Last Night at the Proms Community Songs being performed for your entertainment. The will also be memorabilia of the Queen’s reign on show. For more information please contact Debbie on 01793 321677.
On 12 June Toothill Church will host a Service of Holy Communion at 10:30am led by Revd Trevor Day and David Hoar. All are welcome to the service and there is a gift for attending. St Mary’s church will be hosting a Strawberry Tea on the 12 June raising money for the church, with a free gift for attending also.
On both Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June, St Mary’s church will open their bell tower to visitors, bringing an opportunity to see inside the bell tower and ring a bell over a weekend in which the bells will ring in thanksgiving for the Queen’s 90th birthday. The St John Triptych and the newly restored Reredos will additionally be open on 12 June.
Also on Saturday 12 June at 4pm, Holy Trinity in Shaw will be hosting a Messy Church event for children, with games, crafts and a birthday tea. This event has no age limits with all welcome.
Finally St Mary’s will host a celebration at 5pm on 12 June for the Queen led by Revd. Capt. Clive Deverell and Bishop of Swindon Dr Lee Rayfield, inlcuding the blessing of the restored Reredos within the church.
