Churchfields Academy has announced that Sandra Muir has been appointed to the position of headteacher.
Mrs Muir has been a member of staff at the school since 1999 and was appointed as acting principal in November 2015.
Speaking about the appointment recently appointed chair of governors Jane Hext said: “We’re very pleased with the response to the advertisement and were able to shortlist from a strong field of candidates. A rigorous selection procedure ran over two days and gave us ample opportunity to assess the strengths of all the candidates. At the end of the process we appointed Mrs Sandra Muir, who we believe to be the best person to lead us forward.
“I am confident that under Mrs Muir’s leadership, the Academy can go from strength to strength. Mrs Muir has the energy, drive and commitment which Churchfields needs to take us forward and ensure that we are inspiring and creating futures for all.
“We will continue to collaborate with Royal Wootton Bassett Academy (RWBA) on intra-school development and sharing best practice.”
Mrs Muir commented: “I feel very privileged and excited to lead Churchfields through the next stage of its journey. I look forward to working closely with our community partners and RWBA to make Churchfields an excellent school that inspires all students to be the best that they can be.”
