Youngsters attending Tregoze Primary School now have a safer route to school thanks to the persistence of parent Tracey Boxall and others who pressed local councillors and Robert Buckland MP for action by Swindon Council.
A zebra crossing was completed in mid-July just before the end of term. Tracey said: “It’s been 28 months since I started a petition amongst parents to get the council to take the dangers of Hay Lane seriously. The volume of vehicles using the road has grown massively over the last few years because more drivers are trying to take short cuts through residential areas away from main roads.
“I’m delighted to see the crossing completed at last and I’d like to thank Tregoze pupil Reggie White for writing such a nice thank you letter.”
Robert Buckland MP said he was equally delighted. “After joining a protest calling for the crossing earlier this year, it’s great to see it finished. Tracey organised an excellent campaign and Cllr Tim Swinyard pushed hard for the right decision in the council.”
