Shoppers will be feeling the heat, when the Swindon Chilli Fiesta returns for a third year in a row.
The event is free and is being organised once again by Chilli Fest UK and inSwindon’s BID, the town’s centre Business Improvement District and will take place at Wharf Green, from 10:30am – 5:30pm on Saturday 30 July.
If it’s not basted in piccante glazes, brushed with scorching powder, sprinkled with fiery flakes of pimento or doused in chipotle oil, it simply won’t be on show at Swindon’s annual Chilli Fiesta.
Some of the best chilli producers from across the UK will be there to offer the very best of British chilli and will be exhibiting chilli jams, chilli dips, chilli chutney, chilli chocolate and chilli beverages. For the less adventurous amongst us, there’s some flavoursome but mild cooking sauces available, but if you’re feeling brave, there will be extreme sauces and dips to try and take home. There’s even a range of chilli cocktails, beers and cider, which are not for the fainthearted! Visitors can expect a day of chilli madness with lots of goodies to eat, drink, taste and buy.
To get you into the Chilli Fiesta spirit, you can also listen to live music throughout the day. Acts include Josie and the Outlaws and performances from the Academy of Music and Sound.
Di Powell, inSwindon BID Manager said: “Last year’s Chilli Fiesta was a huge success, attracting hundreds of chilli fans to the town centre and this year looks set to be even better. The festival will showcase a variety of colourful stalls selling chilli-inspired produce and live music throughout the day. Also, if you’re an avid chilli fan, you can even take part in the ultimate Clash of the Titans Chilli Eating Contest starting at 3pm – a competition that is not for the faint hearted which allows contestants to take on some of the hottest chillies in the world. It really is a day out not to missed”.
Alexandra, Chilli Fest UK Organiser said: “ “It’s a religious homage to chilli,” he booms. “If I can say no to water, you see how serious this chilli event is.This time we’re back with fresh blood to spice up the place. Get ready to be “wowed’ and experience the full spectrum of flavours that these wonderful chillies provide. If you’re thirsty, you can wash it all down with the exclusive chilli drinks, such as chilli mojito, chilli tequila beer – and even chilli cider will be on offer.”
