The TrustSTFC board continued to meet over the close season and there are some great plans for the year ahead.
We’ve been discussing ideas with the North Wilts Youth Football League and local schools for quite some time now, and we continued this with Adam Wainwright from Swindon Town, and also representatives of STFC Football In The Community.
The main objective is to find a way to engage the young families of Swindon with their local professional football team, and the vehicle for that will be the new Pro Red scheme, which we will be promoting throughout schools later in the year.
We’ve now officially launched the scheme, and have people signing up every day, so there’s no need to delay matters. If you’re the parent of a youngster, please take a look at the registration site and sign your family up: www.pro-red.co.uk
The scheme enables parents of Wiltshire schoolchildren and youth footballers to get reduced price tickets to Swindon Town home matches, thus encouraging more familes along to the County Ground. Also the club or school they associate with will get cashback based on tickets sold through this process.
This is a great project that is all about the long-term. There are around 5,000 football mad kids who play in the North Wilts league every Sunday and tens of thousands of kids in Swindon and Wiltshire at school, so these are an obvious target as future Town supporters.
We’re sure this will help to grow attendances in the years to come, so help us to spread the word.
