Swindon Carers Centre and NCS team 2 are teaming up to raise funds and awareness for carers across Swindon.
They are holding a Charity Evening with live music and stalls at Level 3 in Swindon.
The National Citizen Service is a national organisation that runs a 4 week programme in the summer to help young people aged 16-19 gain vital skills for their future. As part of the programme, the young people have a week of adventurous activities, a week of skills workshops and independent living, and then two weeks to plan and run a social action project for a chosen charity.
Swindon Carers Centre offer help and support for anyone who looks after someone in their family, such as a sibling, husband or child. They are funded by donations and grants and use the money they get to offer breaks from careering, counselling for carers and financial advice.
Team 2 chose to support Swindon Carers Centre as there are young carers in the group and they all felt moved by the charities’ presentation. They wanted to help a charity that was actually going to make a difference to people in the local community and they felt that young carers would do that.
They have organised a Charity evening with live music and a variety of stalls including henna, cake sales, a raffle and face painting. This will be held at Level 3, 73 Commercial Road, SN1 5NX, from 5pm-10pm on Tuesday 16 August.
Tickets are £3 for Adults, £1.50 for under 16’s and free for under 5’s, and are available to purchase by contacting the team via their Facebook event https://www.facebook.com/events/1762127934030862/
All the proceeds will go towards Swindon Carers Centre.
