On 29 October, The Sun Inn at Coate is hosting an open charity firewalk where half the proceeds raised will be going to the GWH Brighter Futures appeal.
Organised by newly formed charity, ANYTHING is Possible, the event will be held under the watchful eye of the UK’s leading firewalk expert, Cliff Mann, of Time for Change.
Michelle Basson, Chair of ANYTHING is Possible, said: “Everybody has a cause that’s close to their heart, but those causes are rarely the same for everyone. By making the event open format, our hope is that a diverse range of organisations will be helped.
“The participation fee is £50 and people who register can fundraise for whichever cause is close to their heart, no matter what or where it is, safe in the knowledge that every penny they raise will end up there.
“The entry fee £50 cover the cost of mounting the event and contribute to our work of ANYTHING is Possible in Swindon. Be it local or national, big or small, if it means something to you and you’re willing to walk through fire to make it happen, then we’d love to help you help them.”
ANYTHING is Possible, which is based at Nexus Business Centre in Cheney Manor, has been born from the desire to make a difference to the people in and around Swindon whose lives are affected by poverty, domestic violence, or social exclusion. Half of the event’s direct proceeds are going to the GWH Brighter Futures appeal and the remaining funds will be used to help those in need at a grass roots level.
The event kicks off at 2pm, and there’s live music all day, through until late. If you fancy being turned into a zombie or a ghastly ghoul, a group of media makeup students from Swindon College will be on hand to oblige.
Once the firewalk is done there’ll be a hog roast in the evening and a great party band to get everyone up and dancing until closing time. Top raffle prizes include a new iPad Pro (the big one), and a very large TV, along with lots of other fantastic goodies.
Michelle added: “Firewalking is all about personal achievement and overcoming fear, so it’s my hope that the event will benefit everyone involved, in ways that extend far beyond financial.”
