‘Ghost Hunter Tours’ are coming to Swindon on Saturday 6 August to investigate the allegedly haunted Hanger C2 in Wroughton. The group state that the hangar is one of the ‘most overpowering spirit filled venues’ they have seen in 15 years.
For many, typical activities for a Saturday night may include meeting up with friends, going out for drinks or (more likely) lounging at home catching up on those Game of Thrones episodes you’ve been meaning to watch. For the more adventurous, however, ghost hunting may be the highlight of the weekend.
Starting at 9pm, the overnight ghost hunt in Wroughton will be led by four psychic mediums. Roy Roberts, who allegedly has had ghost hunting encounters with Jack the Ripper, will be leading the group. Organisers say that spirits are predominantly felt through noise and touch and you may be able to see them walking around the venue.
The hunt was organised after owners of the hangar contacted the ghost hunting group themselves. The site is currently used as a go-kart track but dates back to the 40s and has a long history of unexplained events. According to Ghost Hunter Tours, a common quote from those who have reported ghostly encounters is “you never fell alone in there”.
Over 100 people have already expressed interest in the hunt and according to the Facebook page, approximately 60 are definitely going.
Andrew Ayres, one of the organisers of the event, said “We have been working in the paranormal event field for almost 15 years. Ghost hunting for us starts with the history of a place or venue, what’s happened there, previous independent ghost sightings and in some cases, local legend.
“We will be conducting several different experiments on the night which include, table tipping, a séance, and human pendulum.
“The event starts at 9pm and will finish at around 2am with the whole group coming together to do a giant séance and vigil.”
Unsurprisingly, this activity is not for the faint-hearted but if you are an adrenaline junkie and love horror movies and thrillers, then this event would be right up your street.
The hunt is only open to over 18s and will take place on Saturday 6 August at 9pm at Hangar C2 – Wroughton Airfield, Wroughton, Swindon, SN4 0QJ
