St Augustine’s Church in Summers Street, Swindon is holding a marathon reading of Shakespeare plays and sonnets to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death, from 10.30am on Saturday 27 August to 10.30am on Sunday 28 August.
It will include A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the church grounds at around 7pm on Saturday 27th with drinks and nibbles.
The organisers of this 24 hour Shakespeare readathon are looking for people to take part for half an hour at a time. Ideally small groups could read parts of the plays to make them more interesting to hear.
Visitors will be very welcome to visit the church at any time in the 24 hours to hear the the bard’s famous word, and to join in as well. To take part in the reading itself for a half hour slot, mail email@example.com
The aim is to raise money for the upkeep of St Augustine’s Church and for repairs to the church building which is in need of complete re-wiring, plus other repairs to the structure including heating, flooring and to the brickwork.
