Local footballer Lucas Totti will be wearing the three lions of England as he has been selected to represent the country at the UKMA European six a side championships for the very first time.
Midfielder Lucas, from Swindon, will be heading off to Hungary as part of the squad who are bidding for glory at the team championships to be held in the city of Szekesfehervar.
The player succeeded through trials and training, competing with hundreds of others from around the country for the coveted slot.
Now the squad is selected, UKMA National Teams Director Pete Mitchell says the player thoroughly deserves his place: “Competition was fierce, but Lucas has impressed everyone. There’s enough experienced players who are able to pass their knowledge on to the newer members of the squad.”
Totti will join an England squad who are making their fifth appearance at the European Championships. They have had some mixed results so far, being knocked out in the group stages in the 2012 Moldova championships, yet reaching the quarter finals in 2013 in Crete.
