Celebrating Heritage Open Days and Swindon175, the Mechanics’ Trust is opening the Railway Cottage Museum, next to The Platform on Faringdon Road, on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September, 10.30am to 3pm. Entry is free.
The cottage is a unique example of what life was like living in Swindon’s Railway Village in the early 1900s.
Under the management of the Mechanics’s Trust since July, the cottage has been closed to the public for many years and the weekend is an opportunity to see inside again before it closes for refurbishment and re-opening in 2017.
Village tours: Members of the trust will also be giving guided tours of the Railway Village at 11.30am and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. For more information call 07516 477479.
