The Forestry Commission’s National Arboretum at Westonbirt is once again transforming into a sensory winter wonderland, for its annual Enchanted Christmas event.
One of the most visually stunning festive events in the South West, it will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening from the last weekend of November (25 – 27) to the weekend before Christmas (16 – 18 December).
At the heart of the Enchanted Christmas event lies a spectacular lighting display that takes decorating the tree for Christmas to a whole new level. Westonbirt’s majestic tree collection is illuminated, creating a magical experience for the whole family. A new lighting design is created each year, taking in around a mile of the arboretum’s paths.
The trail itself is pushchair and wheelchair friendly and features exciting interactive displays for the family to enjoy along the way.
There will be a packed programme including free Christmas crafts, festive stiltwalkers, classic carols, a traditional children’s carousel and a shop where visitors can stock up on a fantastic selection of festive goodies.
The biggest name in Christmas is also in attendance; Father Christmas himself, dressed in traditional green and helped by his cheeky elves. Children can share their Christmas wishes to Father Christmas, in exchange for a small gift. Mrs Christmas will also be keeping kids entertained with storytelling time in her yuletide yurt- while mums and dads warm up with a mulled wine, hot chocolate or hog roast.
Simon Hough, Recreation Manager, said: “Westonbirt’s Enchanted Christmas has become a tradition for many families and it’s easy to see why. It really is a magical event and the perfect way to get into the festive spirit.
“The incredible illuminations transform Westonbirt’s trees into a festive spectacle, made all the more special with the warming scents of mulled wine, hot chocolate and roasted chestnuts filling the chilly evening air.”
Due to such popular demand, tickets are advance booking only.
