A Swindon woman celebrated her 100th birthday in style with the support of Swindon Borough Council's community volunteering scheme.

Swindon Circles is a befriending scheme, designed to alleviate loneliness and improve the wellbeing of the towns most isolated residents.

The centenarian is one of the Live Well Swindon Circles residents, and was pictured with a baked by Forget Me Not Baker volunteer Nicki.

It was then delivered by Local Hero volunteer Vanessa.

The centenarian has regular support from her Live Well volunteer, Tracy, who took the birthday girl to The Crown Inn for her big day, where a birthday lunch of ham, eggs, chips and peas was finished off and very much enjoyed!

Tracy is a Local Hero and Swindon Circles befriender volunteer who helps with shopping, correspondence and companionship.

Swindon Circles and Local Hero roles are flexible and fit around what time the volunteer has available.

Tracy’s support has enabled our 100-year-old resident to remain independent.
