Swindon Borough Council is hiring poll clerks and counting assistants for the upcoming local elections on 2 May.
The council is looking for people to work at the polling stations for the borough and Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) elections on 2 May.
Poll clerks are employed to carry out duties at polling stations. They are responsible for making sure that the proper procedures for voting are followed in polling stations.
On Election Day, polling staff are required to work from 6:30am until 10pm without leaving the polling station. Staff are also required to undertake training prior to the day which will be provided online.
Counting staff assist in counting the votes. This usually takes place after the polling stations have closed, on the night of election, and continues into the early hours of the following morning. The role requires high levels of concentration and accuracy
People wishing to help shall:
- Need to work at a polling station from 6.30am until 10pm.
- Need to complete online training prior to the day
- Be paid the poll clerk fee of £183.04 + a £20 online training fee
