Buckhurst Field Improvements

As parish councillors, our goal is to make South Swindon a vibrant, desirable place for families to call home. Part of that mission involves providing quality public spaces and recreation amenities that bring people together and promote active, healthy lifestyles.

That's why I'm proud to announce the improvement programme we have underway at Buckhurst Field. This potential £600,000+ investment represents the largest project ever undertaken by South Swindon Parish Council.

The proposed plan includes a state-of-the-art skate park, fully refreshed children's play area, a new inclusive ‘PlayZone’, restored football pitches and pavilion, landscaping, a new cycle path and more. Our goal is to create an accessible community space with engaging options for residents of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Work on the play area will be starting in early April and should take 3-4 weeks to complete. We will be announcing the commencement of the other works in due course.

Quarry Road Tennis Courts

We are pleased to share that after a lengthy process of assessing the drainage problems and finding an appropriate contractor, work has commenced to properly address the standing water and other drainage challenges faced at the site.

We know this has been frustrating for residents eager to use the courts, and we appreciate everyone's patience as we complete the work. It’s been frustrating for everyone concerned and I’m delighted that work can now take place.

Summer Events 2024

As the warmer weather approaches, I am delighted to announce this summer’s programme of events at the Town Gardens Bowl.

This year we have a diverse selection of fantastic events, including theatre, music and opera, kicking off with Old Time Sailors on Friday 3rd May. Other highlights include Comedy at the Bowl on 1st June, Supersonic Queen tribute on 7th June, open-air theatre with productions like Sherlock & Watson and A Midsummer Night's Dream, and familiar favourites like the My Dad's Bigger Than Your Dad Festival.
