Arkell’s Darts League Hosts Spectacular Finals and Presentation Night with Special Guests Wayne Mardle and Scott Mitchell

The Arkell’s Darts League Finals and Presentation night, which took place on Tuesday, 27 February, at The Moonrakers in Swindon, exceeded all expectations, leaving attendees exhilarated and full of excitement. Special guests, including the renowned Wayne Mardle and Scott Mitchell, made the event truly memorable.

The excitement was palpable as Arkell’s Darts League finalists gathered for its highly anticipated Finals and Presentation night with a difference. 

The evening was filled with thrilling matches, celebrity appearances, and exciting opportunities for fans.  In a nod to the growing popularity of darts, particularly highlighted by recent achievements in the sport by Luke Littler, the league extended a warm invitation to the public to attend this unforgettable evening; a celebration of darts and community. 

Paul Starr, who was MC for the Legends on BBC Sports was caller for the night which kicked off with four finals:

  - Men’s B League Singles Final: Lee Eaton vs. Andy Cutting (Winner, Andy Cutting, Tawny Owl)

  - Ladies Singles Final: Liz Bowen vs. Christine Wall (Winner, Liz Bowen, Southbrook)

  - Men’s A League Singles Final: Ashley McKeever vs. Dec Cox (Winner, Ashley McKeever, Tawny Owl)

  - Landlords Singles Final: Alun Rossiter (The Southbrook) vs. Colin Walker (The Manor) (Winner, Alun Rossiter)

Following the intense competition on the dartboards, attention turned to the presentation ceremony, where champions of the Summer and Winter Leagues were recognised for their achievements and presented with prize money by George Arkell, Managing Director of Arkell’s Brewery.  Alun Rossiter, from The Southbrook Inn was the winner of the Landlords Cup.

A tantalizing spread awaited attendees, with offerings of chili and curry to satisfy appetites and fuel the festivities.

The excitement peaked as Wayne Mardle, a renowned figure in darts, took to the board to play five legs against a line-up of opponents including finalists and lucky raffle draw winners.

Attendees had the exclusive opportunity to mingle with the darting legends, capture memorable photographs and snag coveted autographs, further enriching the experience and fostering a sense of community within the darts fraternity.

The Arkell’s Darts League committee expressed gratitude to all who attended and made the event a resounding success.

George Arkell commented “It was a night to remember at The Moonrakers, filled with exhilarating competition, camaraderie, and celebration.  We were thrilled to be able to put on this event and bring so many of the teams together from the Arkell’s Darts League, and it was made all the more special having two professional darts players to challenge some of our best players to a leg on the night.”
