Labour gain in first borough council election result

The first result of yesterday's Swindon Borough Council elections has been announced.

In a gain for Labour, Marianne LeCoyte-Grinney won in the Liden, Eldene & Park South ward with 1,308 votes.
Second place went to Conservative Roy Stephen with 662 votes, third to Reform UK's Bob Wheeler with 284 and fourth to Liberal Democrat Malcolm Salmon with 187.
A total of 2,451 votes were cast from an electorate of 8,030 people, with 10 ballot papers rejected, meaning the turnout was 30.52 percent.
