From 9:30pm on Thursday 28th May, the Great Western Hospital in Swindon will be illuminated as part of a heartfelt thank you to the NHS during the Covid19 pandemic and in support of the #ClapForOurCarers national campaign.

Led by local event production company Corporate Events, the hospital will become a beacon in a rainbow of colour through a professional lighting show and feature animated projection, which will display messages of hope and thanks from Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and its charity, Brighter Futures.

Managing Director of Corporate Events, Andy Ashley said, “Corporate Events has been part of Swindon for almost 25 years and we are thrilled to have been able to give something back to our local Hospital, the staff and patients all with the support of our local partners during this time.

"We’re also supporting the event industries #MakeItBlue campaign, launched back in March, where more than 100 of the UK’s iconic venues were lit-up in blue to coincide with the UK-wide round of applause for the NHS and frontline care workers.

"After initially reaching out to the Great Western Hospital Trust and Brighter Futures, we wanted to do more, so we contacted our local partners Swindon PA Hire and WGS Power and Lighting in order to really make this something to remember for Swindon and our local NHS heroes.”

Corporate Events are also drawing on the support of a local video team and photographer led by Stephen Makin, who are providing a live stream via the Hospital’s Facebook page @GWHNHS from 9:30pm as well video edits for the Great Western Hospital Trust, to raise awareness of the amazing work being done in Swindon.

The event is not open to the general public who are encouraged to enjoy the display from the comfort of their own homes via the live stream taking place from 9:30pm-10:30pm, by visiting the Great Western Hospital Foundation Trust’s Facebook page, @GWHNHS.

Cat Newman, Associate Director of Fundraising for Brighter Futures said: “We were so thrilled to have been approached by Corporate Events for this amazing light show on the side of our hospital.

“It’s a really lovely opportunity for us to thank all our staff for the incredible work, and our patients and the local community for their continued support.”

Across the evening more messages of hope are to be displayed across a 26ft articulated lorry provided by B&Q in support of the NHS and Corporate Events are hoping the general public will flood social media with more messages of thanks via the live stream.
