A partial closure order has today been granted by magistrates for a flat in Rodbourne Road, Swindon.

Officers applied for the closure order for the flat in a bid to prevent county line drug dealing networks attending the address and magistrates sitting in Basingstoke Magistrates Court passed the order this morning.

The closure order will prevent anyone other than the occupants named on the order, as well as the emergency services, from entering the property. Anyone who does so will be committing an offence and may be arrested.

Sgt Stefan Telford said: “Due to concerns that the occupants were being exploited by these drugs networks, we applied for a closure order at the address to prevent these gangs from further exploiting the occupants’ vulnerabilities.

“It is hoped that this order will provide protection to the occupants moving forward, as well as the other residents in the block of flats and those living nearby.

“Drugs can blight a community and these closure orders can be really effective in helping those involved in turning their lives around.”

The partial closure order will be in place for three months and will be regularly monitored by officers.
