Martin Morgan, 35, of Whitworth Road, pleaded guilty at Swindon Magistrates Court on Thursday, 19 November to three counts of theft from three shops in the town.

On Wednesday, 11 November he entered the Co-Op store on Cricklade Road and stole a bottle of alcohol.

On Friday, 13 November he entered Boots in the town centre and took numerous skin care products.

On Wednesday, 18 November he entered Marks and Spencer on Regent Street and stole several bottles of alcohol.

Following the sentencing, PC Paul Bezzant from the Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "This is a good result as this man is a prolific offender, causing no end of problems for hard-working people and businesses in the town.

"He has only recently come out of prison but obviously has not learnt his lesson.

"Hopefully these 18 weeks will give him time to reflect and will allow businesses, already hit by the current lockdown, some respite from his actions."
