Public opinion wanted for park vision survey

South Swindon Parish Council's second online survey about GWR Park can be completed this month.

In May, South Swindon Parish Council asked the public what they value about GWR Park and how they would like to see it develop. Over 400 people took part and their responses informed the draft Conservation Management Plan which has been produced by landscape architects Cookson and Tickner.

The draft plan sets out a Vision or Action Plan for the next five to ten years that will support South Swindon Parish Council in their management of the park.

The council invite the public again to give their views about the proposed vison for the future development of the park by completing a short online survey at: www.swindon.gov.uk/gwrparksurvey.

A summary of people’s responses from the first survey are available and the public can read the draft Conservation Management Plan which contains an illustrated history of the park.

GWR Park on Faringdon Road has been a part of Swindon’s social and leisure life for over 170 years. It is an important project within the Swindon Heritage Action Zone which has funded this work. 

Heritage Action Zones aim to unleash the power in England’s historic environment to create economic growth and improve quality of life in villages, towns and cities. Working with local people and partners, Historic England wish to help breathe new life into old places that are rich in heritage and full of promise - unlocking their potential and making them more attractive to residents, businesses, tourists and investors.
