A 15-year-old boy has been arrested following a video posted on social media yesterday (3/2).

Police were made aware of the video, which had been posted on Facebook, late last night. The video showed an assault on two males in the Grange Park area of Swindon.

It is believed the assault happened earlier that day at approximately 5.30pm.

Officers were quickly able to identify the victims involved in the incident who are aged 12 and 19, and as part of their enquiries, arrested a 15-year-old boy this morning on suspicion of two counts of assault. He has been taken to custody in Gablecross for further questioning.

Insp Steve Love said: “Having viewed this video myself I am appalled at the actions of the individual involved who has launched an attack on two innocent people.

“This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in our communities and I’d urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police on 101.

“I would also like to stress the importance of not posting videos of this nature on social media and instead reporting it to police immediately, so appropriate action can be taken. Sharing content of this nature can cause further distress to those involved.

“I would like to thank those who alerted police to the footage and I am pleased that officers have been able to swiftly make an arrest in relation to the assault. Our enquiries will continue.”

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote log number 369 of February 3.
