Pupils at Lawn Manor Academy enjoyed ‘different’ lessons when treated to a Personal Development (PD) Day at school.
Extracurricular lessons were put on for Years 7 through to 11 on Wednesday 22 April to help pupils with their education.
Officers from Wiltshire Police, South Western Ambulance and a doctor from the NHS visited to talk about the effects of knife crime and drugs under their Blunt Truth scheme.
A band called The Mercians played in front of a large, excited audience and then took questions about being musicians.
Forest School took place in the school grounds where pupils had to find hidden clues to make up book titles, and the educational company MADE Training presented motivational talks and exercises to help with revision and exams.
Will Smith, the teacher who organised the day, said: “PD Days are an important part of our school year. They give our pupils a chance to do something different – get out of the classroom, listen to some inspirational speakers, and learn something different outside of the curriculum. It gives our young people a more rounded education.
“We’d like to thank all our guests who came in today to deliver lessons, talks and play music. Without them we wouldn’t be able to do this.”
Another PD Day is planned for July.
