The Crown Inn in Stratton are hosting a family fun day at the pub over the bank holiday weekend. There will be games and stalls, a barbecue, ice cream van, facepainting, tombola, and raffle. There will be live music with a special performance from local group, Sister Sister.
The event kicks off at 12 noon on Saturday 25th August. All proceeds raised from the fun day will be evenly split between local charity Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group and Phab Kids.
The Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group is a parent-led charity which supports people with the condition, as well as their families and carers in the town. They offer new parent support groups, speech and language therapy and social activities like swimming sessions, family days out and drama projects.
Phab Kids organises residential experiences which enable children and adults with a range of disabilities to enjoy fun and challenging activities at accessible outdoor centres. There are over 170 Phab clubs with 8,000 members in all age ranges from under 8’s to over 80’s right across England and Wales.
Local company Elite Stainless Fabrications has been heavily involved in supporting the fun day and will draw the winning ticket for their raffle of the special edition 60 litre micro-brewery at the event. Tanya Lewis, Manager at the Crown Inn, organising the event said: “This is going to be a fantastic day. There’s lots going on and we can’t wait for the 25th August. We hope to raise a significant amount of money to help the two charities who work so hard to support the people who need it.”
