Specialist pharmaceutical packaging provider Wasdell has appointed Stephen Cox as Senior Information Technologist to develop technology and support productivity and efficiency across the business.

Stephen was formerly an intern at Wasdell during his year in industry as part of his BSc (Hons) Information Technology Management for Business at UWE, which he has just graduated from with First Class Honours.

During this year, Stephen developed a number of automated applications to increase efficiency in different sectors many of which are still in use, including a schedule for the use of Wasdell’s bespoke tooling, helping plan work carried out on the production lines; a security programme to monitor access to Wasdell’s buildings; a delivery and collection scheduling and monitoring app; and a web-based tool to support the sales team.

Stephen said: “I’m excited to be returning to Wasdell as a permanent part of the team.  Completing my year in industry at Wasdell gave me a deeper insight into different areas of business and how IT can be used to improve efficiency and support production.  To be able to develop the best systems you need to understand all areas of the business and understand the issues each faces.

“I will continue working on the systems I have already been part of designing, as well as creating more to help prepare the business as it grows.”

Martin Tedham, CEO of Wasdell, said: “In order to remain competitive and able to invest in the technologies and advances needed to stay at the forefront of the pharmaceutical industry we need to ensure that our systems are working as hard as they can.

“By automating the scheduling and supporting the sales team we can reduce unnecessary delays, which means that our production teams can fulfil orders to support our continued growth.”
