Swindon & Wiltshire Pride are in the running to receive up to £4K thanks to Tesco's Bags of Help Scheme.
Organisers of Swindon & Wiltshire Pride are asking people to vote for their cause in a bid to "make pride happen" next year through Tesco's Bags of Help grant scheme.
From today Tesco shoppers across Swindon and Wiltshire store will have the opportunity to vote for Swindon & Wiltshire Pride to win up to a £4,000 grant which will go towards the group's annual pride parade next year. The scheme will end 31 December.
This year due to a lack of volunteers, and many committee members retiring, the Swindon & Wiltshire Pride committee announced the annual event - which has taken place for the last 10 year - would be cancelled. Through the Bags of Help grant organisers are hoping to bring back the parade next year.
John Edwards, Swindon & Wiltshire Pride's grants coordinator, said: "This great opportunity from Tesco Bags of help gives Swindon & Wiltshire Pride more chance of ensuring our event does happen in 2019.
"The people of Swindon & Wiltshire were disappointed to have no pride this year but with a helping hand from Tesco this is 1 step closer to ensuring we come back stronger. The funds will help us to move forward and keep this event free for all to attend.
"We would really like people to vote for us as the more votes we have, the funds we get, therefore giving us more chance and more opportunity to showcase Swindon and Wiltshire Pride 2019. You can vote by making a purchase of any value (no purchase of carrier bag necessary) and then collecting your token from the cashier/self-service till. Then deposit the token in the community box supporting Swindon & Wiltshire Pride 2019. There are 11 participating stores, ranging from Royal Wootton Bassett to Wroughton, North Swindon to West Swindon, including town centre stores.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for supporting Swindon & Wiltshire Pride."
