Barking up the right tree - as Petshed celebrate 15 years of canine care, the family-run business has unveiled plans to expand.
PetShed was established in 2003 as a family owned business. The pet shop was founded after the managing director Philip, who worked for one of the big wholesalers in the pet industry for over 32 years, decided to branch out on his own.
Starting out as LittleShed in Studley Grange Leisure Park, the business quickly expanded and became Petshed now reaching the point of almost out growing the warehouse. Plans for a third building are now in place which Petshed are hoping to devlop within the next two years. Petshed's owners also hope this expansion will allow them to provide a seven-days-a-week service with a team of qualified groomers, and possibly even their own Training Academy later down the line.
Sarah Wells said: "In the beginning, there were just two employees, and now we have 16 members of staff. We’re still very much a family business though."
Petshed's 15 years of achievements resulted in being voted ‘Swindon’s Favourite PetShop’ in 2013 and earning the Pet Industry Federation’s Award for Best Independent Retailer in the UK.
In October, they also launched their own Brand of Dog Food called Borders. They are currently working on two Puppy Products and looking at introducing a range of Cat Foods very soon.
Immediate plans for the future involve turning the ‘seasonal’ aisle into the biggest display of Pet Christmas toys, treats and clothing in Swindon, the deliveries have started arriving, so this should start to take shape early October.
