Swindon Carers Centre is delighted to have been successful in a bid for a Big Lottery Fund Reaching Communities grant, to create and deliver a new Young Carer Champion Award in partnership with Swindon Schools.

Over the next 3 years, SCC will continue to work with the schools, academies and colleges on the Young Carer Award and recruit a further 12 new schools in the 2018-19 academic year.
Young carers tell us they would like to lead the way in their schools and have worked with us to develop the AQA accredited Young Carer Champion Award, where they will work with their young carer leads to ensure all young carers in their schools and local communities have a voice.
We would like to thank all education professionals who do outstanding work to support young carers in Swindon via the Young Carer Award and we are delighted to be able to develop this further with the Young Carer Champion Award over the next 3 years.
Susanna Jones, SCC CEO, says: “We are very excited about utilising the expertise young carers in Swindon have to further develop a clear voice for other young carers here.  This will be so positive in influencing the support available to them.  A big thank you to the Big Lottery Fund for investing in this project following the huge success of the Young Carer Award over the past 3 years.”
