Swindon named 'Most Christmassy City in the UK' (apparently...)

According to online Google Search Trends, Swindon is the ‘most Christmassy city in the UK’ claims high street gift store Hawkin’s Bazaar (despite the fact that Swindon is actually a town).

PR representatives for the chain, which has a branch in the Brunel Centre, analysed UK-wide Google search trends to find that Swindon beat Hull, Derby, Liverpool and Cardiff to claim the most ‘Christmassy city crown’ - on the basis that the term was searched for more on Google than other towns and cities.

Swindon came out on top as the UK’s most Christmassy city, closely followed by Hull, Derby, Liverpool and Cardiff. The full top 10 is included below.

Methodology: Data collected using publicly available Google Trends data, analysing all Google Searches made between November 5th and December 4th, 2018. The cities were ranked by festivity according to the percentage of the total Google Searches made that referenced Christmas.
