An under-age driver was caught behind the wheel after police spotted that the car he was driving was held together with rope.

Around 6pm on 8 July 2018, the silver Ford KA was driving past police HQ on London Road in Devizes when an officer on patrol noticed the rope hanging around one of the front wings of the car.

The car was pulled over and the officer discovered the male driver, who had driven from Pinehurst in Swindon, to be only 15-years-old.

On Wednesday 5 December, the teenager, who's from Pinehurst Road, Swindon, appeared at Swindon Youth Court and pleaded guilty to driving without a licence and without insurance.

He was fined £100, had six penalty points added to his licence and has been ordered to pay court costs of £105.
