Wise men, disciples and members from the Swindon community joined to watch an immersive street production of the nativity story yesterday.

Crowds of people flocked to witness an immersive and interactive retelling of the navity play, 'The Journey', which followed the story of Mary and Joseph on their travels to Bethlehem. The cast also included a donkey and three-week old Jasper Dillworth who played the baby Jesus.

Heading off from Lethbridge Primary School The Journey was lead my Daniella Faircloth (Virgin Mary) and Ankur Sengupta (Josepth) as they made their way through Wood Street (Bazaar at Bethlehem) to reach Christ Church where they were met by carol singers.

Ahead of The Journey, a spokesperson for the event said: "Their aim is to bring together people and organisations from across the community to celebrate Christmas in a completely unique way.

"They hope to bring the message of this story to Old Town in a way that resonates with many of the difficult issues faced by communities living in the present day."

The performance, which was produced by the Old Town Partnership of Churches, also included participation from local businesses along Wood Street, selling various food and gifts to add to the immersive experience.
