Visitors to Swindon’s Railway Village Museum took a step back in time to experience a Victorian Christmas. The museum, set in an 1846 railway worker’s home on Faringdon Road has been decorated in the festive style of the time - along with small details of family life.

Actors, dressed in clothes from the time, brought the scene to life by playing the role of engine driver James Hall and his wife Catherine.

The museum opens monthly between April and October and is staffed by a team of volunteers.

Anyone interested in helping support the work of the museum can contact the Mechanics’ Trust at [email protected]
