Paramedics attending a medical emergency were forced to call for police backup after children pelted them with rocks from the top of a multi-storey carpark.

At around midday today, police received a call from an ambulance crew calling for help after stating they had had rocks thrown at them from the top floor of the Whalebridge multi-story car park. At the time the Paramedics were trying to treat a ill patient. The children fled just as officers arrived at the location.

A police spokesman said: "This type of behaviour is completely out of order and will not be tolerated. Trying to assault those trying to help other in need is not acceptable."
