Swindon police are appealing for the public’s help to identify a woman in connection with an attempted armed robbery.

Shortly after midnight on 8 January 2019, a woman entered the Premier shop at the junction of Cricklade Road and Whitworth Road.

She threatened a shop worker with a knife and demanded he open the till and hand over money.

The shop worker refused and the woman fled the scene in the direction of Whitworth Road.

PC Jonathan Kilburn said: “This was a terrifying incident and the victim was understandably shaken up.

“I’d like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident and we have been carrying out extensive enquiries since it happened to identify the person responsible.

“I’d like to appeal to the public for any information – the woman is described as white, 5 ft tall, wearing a black jacket with a brown fur trim around the hood. She was wearing black, white and grey baggy trousers with vertical stripes and was covering her face with a scarf or piece of cloth.

“Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190002158 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
