Wiltshire Festival impressario Andy Cotton attended a concert by pop music mad youngsters from Greendown Community School held in the Hilton Hotel in November 1997. He liked their talent and he agreed to book them for the Party in the Park in Lydiard Park in August 1998.
He admitted he was doubtful about allowing the youngsters to perform for fear of damaging the festival brand. After auditions, musicians and backing singers were teamed up with soul singer Sam Moore of the legendary Stax recording duo Sam and Dave, and they put on a stonking show.
