A new initiative aims to help Swindon and Wiltshire businesses through a series of business briefings with insider tips, B2B networking, and free access to co-working facilities.
Swindon's latest co-working space, Workshed, will be launching the first of its Business Briefing series this month in a bid to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Swindon and Wiltshire.
The first of the free Business Briefing series takes place on Valentine’s Day, Thursday 14 February, 11am to 12.30pm. Romance might not be in the air, but the event aims to help businesses build relationships with each other, as well as the Defence and Security Accelerator, an MoD initiative to promote innovation and entrepreneurship through grant funding and advice.
Guest speaker will be Defence and Security Accelerator’s Ben Whitaker, offering insight into how businesses can access the £40m funding pot as well as vital support for product development and innovation.
Mr Whitaker said: “Many businesses don’t realise that the technology or innovation they are developing could have relevance to the defence and security of the UK.
“Our job is to encourage people to see how their business fits with our objectives, and to help them access the funding they need to move ahead with development.”
The Defence and Security Accelerator is a UK Government organisation that funds the development of innovations spanning cyber security and novel materials, to energy storage and regenerative medicine, and everything in between.
After a short presentation there will be an opportunities to network - anyone attending will have free access to Workshed's co-working workspaces and break-out areas for the whole day including 1Gig wifi, hot drinks and an introduction to business support available in the area.
Workshed's centre manager, Jolyon Rose, said: “The Workshed is a great asset for helping new business in Swindon and the surrounding areas.
“As well as flexible office space and meetings rooms, there is plenty of space for co-working, networking and connecting with other businesses.
“Our prices are hard to beat too."
Businesses can reserve their free spots at the session via the Eventbrite booking page.
