A prolific burglar has been sentenced to nearly two and a half years in prison after breaking into a home in Swindon.

Alan Aldous, from Royal Wootton Bassett, stole jewellery and an iPad from the property on Avonmead, Haydon Wick after smashing a window to get in during the afternoon of Monday 3 December 2018.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to burglary at Swindon Crown Court on Friday (08/02) and was sentenced to 876 days in prison.

Det Con Jared Yalden said:  "This is a good result and especially as this man has previous convictions for burglary.

"It was imperative he was caught and jailed before he could go on another burglary spree."
