Mancunian singer-songwriter Dave Fidler is pleased to announce a brand new album for 2019: ‘Songs From Aurora’ which he will debut at The Old Stables in Cricklade.

Twelve tracks from a master journeyman, the titles that form his new collection are imbued with warm memories of an eternal summer and dusted with tales that can only be told from heady days on the open road. Now heading out on tour, Dave will be bringing his tour to The Old Stables 16 May.

Plying his trade to live audiences on a long and snaking tour of the festival circuit throughout 2018, enjoying the moment and wrapt in his craft, the kernels of what would be Fidler’s first release in over four years began to take shape. Feeling inspired by his travels Fidler began to occupy his spare moments in writing religiously and found new music pouring out of him. Plucking songs from the midst of the balmy August haze at an almost daily rate, in seemingly no time at all, the foundations of what would be the follow up to his acclaimed debut ‘I’m Not Here’ had materialised in lush and tangible form.

Blending intimately-told, warmly-inviting stories with arrangements of a hushed majesty, fans of Crosby, Still & Nash, Nick Drake and Dylan will find much to enjoy on ‘Songs From Aurora’. From the gently epic country-tinged opener “On The Line’” to the lilting harmonica-led lullaby of “Eternal Road’”; the bluesy railroad reminisces of ‘Will I Ever Learn?’ to the pure harmonies and swelling folk pop of “Skylark” and “Breeze”, Fidler’s latest sees the artist step-up to deliver a masterclass in pared-back and pure songwriting. Introducing remarkable characters in lucidly real settings along the way, Fidler’s painterly pieces transport the listener into his world, evocatively telling tales of performing to a Haitian women's prison, to getting perilously trapped beneath a collapsed house in the midst of a Los Angeles earthquake.

With much of the new album conjured from within the comforting belly of his trusty caravan ’Aurora’, that would shelter him during its time of writing, there could only ever be one title for the new release. ‘Songs From Aurora’ was recorded and produced at Dave Fidler’s personal studio: The Fuse, in Manchester, with further mixing by Alan Lowles at Airtight Studios in Chorlton, and mastering by Geoff Pesche at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

For Dave Fidler, music has been something of a lifelong and enduring passion. From founding Bluebird Kid Clark, a band who won T4’s Pop World and performed with PureEssence to a sold-out Manchester Apollo no less, to orchestrating the infamous Circus Rock band showcase night in Manchester which hosted the likes of Guy Garvey and Clint Boon, and teaching guitar and ukulele to over 3000 young students a week to this very day, his varied and always fascinating projects are telling of man who has music running through his veins.

However, it seems it wouldn’t be until 2014 that he would find his true calling as songwriting. Releasing his acclaimed debut album ‘I’m Not Here’ that year, Fidler has been out on the road performing and writing ever since. Playing over 300 live shows in support of the record, the singer has also become something of a regular fixture at festivals such as Glastonbury, Kendal Calling, Grillstock, Purbeck Valley Folk Festival and Festival No. 6.  Performing to ever greater numbers and making new friends with each show, Fidler’s solo adventures have even found him rubbing shoulders with bonafide rockstars the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Crosby, Stills & Nash along the way. Beginning to make ripples both sides of the pond, he has since swung a licensing deal with publishing heavyweights BMG Los Angeles too.

Frequently found to be touring with kindred spirit and long-time supporter John Bramwell of I Am Kloot (of whom Fidler has shared his studio with on occasion), Fidler now looks forward to embarking on his first solo headline tour of the USA and Europe.
