Police are investigating an incident which occurred in Abbey Meads village centre on Tuesday and would like to hear from any witnesses.

At approximately 4pm on March 5, two men aged in their 20s, were cycling near the football pitches at Sevenfields, Penhill. They passed a group of youths on the pathway, who began shouting and chasing the men into Abbey Meads village centre.

They are believed to have been carrying a number of weapons, including a hammer and bike seat poles.

The men went into a building in the village centre and police were called.

PC Daniel Laurie said: “It is extremely fortunate that nobody was injured during this incident, which was understandably, frightening for those involved.

“We understand the group of youths were aged between 14 to 16 years old and were wearing dark clothing. It is believed the group left the area in the direction of Penhill - we are keen to hear from anyone who could provide us with information – did you see this group or do you have CCTV or dash-cam footage which could assist our enquiries?”
