From exploding volcanos to a flurry of butterflies, a local nursery is the second in Great Britain to welcome an interactive sandbox for its students.
Meadowpark Nursery is celebrating 25 years of early childhood education with the addition of an augmented reality iSandBox.
The Nursery is the second school to implement the interactive iSandBox in Great Britain, giving Meadowpark the opportunity to offer an advanced sensory stimulation tool for children.
Complete with several changeable software settings children can experience an explosion of butterflies, the transformation of topography, the effects of the ocean, and the eruption of a volcano. Each setting has applicable audio effects to accompany the digital 3D colour and light projection as the children move the sand around.
Head teacher, Rajvinder Kular said: "Our focus at the Nursery over the past 25 years has always been to offer a loving, safe and inspirational environment for babies, toddlers and children.
"The iSandBox is the perfect way to celebrate our milestone in a way that truly benefits the children at the heart of our early years provision."
Developed by Universal Terminal Systems, a Russian-based company, the iSandBox was created by scientific and technology professionals in an effort to advance the interactive technology market. Launched in 2016, the iSandbox has been implemented in science museums, interactive exhibits, rehabilitation centres and schools worldwide.
Meadowpark is welcoming families with children ages three months to four years to visit the Nursery every Friday where children can ‘dip their toes in to an educational learning journey’ and experience the iSandBox.
