Swindon Sports Forum runs Sports Development courses for Swindon’s young Talented Athletes.

Young athletes from a wide range of sports and from across Swindon have been attending personal development courses provided by Swindon Sports Forum.

This is in conjunction with high-performance coach James Marshall from Excelsior who specialise in enhanced sports performance.

Between 12 and 20 teenage athletes have been coming to the 4 hour sessions organised by Swindon Sports Forum to help develop their personal fitness, organisation, diet and health. They are working through a programme to support and enhance their performance in their own sport.

The young athletes have focussed on teamwork, personal organisation, nutrition and healthy eating and sport/life balance. Nominated by their Club Coaches and coached by James, they have learned a great deal about how to approach their sports development in a measured way to help prevent ‘burn out’ before they achieve their potential.

There are two sessions to go in their programme which are run in the School Holidays to enable the athletes to attend.

Ian Jankinson Chairman of Swindon Sports Forum said “What a wonderful opportunity for these youngsters. They are still performing at a high level for their Club in their sport and we are enhancing their personal development over the year. They are also having fun at the same time. Swindon Sports Forum has set aside funds to support this project and we hope to help provide sporting stars for the future that will be in control of their own progress.”

The final two dates for the Academy will be April 11th and May 30th  which are both Thursdays. Coaches, if you have a talented athlete in your club please contact Swindon Sports Forum through our Coordinator Chris Baker at [email protected], or visit our website at www.swindonsportsforum.co.uk or message us on Facebook. You will also see a range of different support for Sports Clubs and Associations from Small Grants to signposting to expert help with bigger projects.
