Thanks to a housing developer a local youth group can enjoy more of the outdoors after being suited and booted with high-vis jackets.

A housing developer based in Oxfordshire has donated 72 high-vis jackets to the 3rd Swindon Wichelstowe Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Taylor Wimpey, a prominent developer in the Wichelstowe area, has donated the jackets to the local youth group so that they are more visible to drivers and pedestrians whilst out and about in their local community.

Now suited and booted with their bright new accessory, the youth club, which helps 50 children build their confidence and develop important social skills, will now be able to continue outdoor activities as the nights draw in thanks to the housing developer.

Andy Gould, Group Scout Leader of 3rd Swindon Wichelstowe, said: “The children's safety is extremely important to us, so we’d like to say a huge thank you to Taylor Wimpey for the new high-vis jackets.

"The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts spend a lot of time outside and with these high-vis vests, we’ll be able to plan more fun adventures, even when out and about after dark. In fact, we already have night hikes planned with the group.”

Danielle Heard, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire, added: “Scouting has helped young people across the world develop life skills for decades.

"We’re proud to donate these much needed high-vis jackets to the 3rd Swindon Wichelstowe club as we know they’ll go a long way in not only helping the children stay safe during outdoor activities, but they’ll allow the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to learn more about the great outdoors as they’ll be able to travel further afield.

"We understand that local community groups can benefit from our help, so it’s important that we provide support where we can to groups that give so much back to the community.”

The 3rd Swindon Wichelstowe club is based near Taylor Wimpey’s new Swindon-based development, Ambrose Gardens, which launches later this year.
